INDICATIONS AND USAGE:
Pefloxacin is used in the management of:
• Endocarditis.
• Infections of the skin and soft tissues.
• Digestive and / or biliary infections.
• Neuromeningeal infections.
• Osteoarticular infections.
• Otorhinolaryngological infections.
• Respiratory infections.
• Urinary infections.
• Urogenital infections.
• Prostatitis.
• Septicemia.
• Gonococcal urethritis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Pefloxacin is given orally or by intravenous infusion as the mesylate in the treatment of susceptible infections.
Doses are expressed in terms of the base; pefloxacin mesylate 558.5 mg is equivalent to about 400 mg of
pefloxacin. The usual dose is 400 mg twice daily. A single oral dose of 800 mg may be used in the treatment of
gonococcal urethritis in men and acute uncomplicated cystitis in women.
Susceptible infections:
Adult: 400 mg bid.
Renal impairment: Dose reduction may be necessary.
Acute uncomplicated cystitis in women:
Adult: 800 mg as single dose.
Renal impairment: Dose reduction may be necessary.
Gonococcal urethritis in men:
Adult: 800 mg as single dose.
Renal impairment: Dose reduction may be necessary.
Should be taken with food.

Pefonix 400 mg - 2 Film Coated Tablets: Carton box contains 1 strip contains 2 film coated tablets.
